The City of Fredericksburg Parks and Recreation Department, in conjunction with Clear River Ice Cream and Bakery, will hold the second annual Gingerbread House Decorating Contest on Tuesday, Dec. 9. 

Registration for the event starts on Tuesday, Oct. 28 and is open to children ages 5-12. A $10 entry fee is required for participation, but all supplies will be provided on the day of the competition.

Registered participants will come to the John Wm. Klein Room at 115 N. Crockett St. in December from 5:30-7 p.m. to decorate. No outside decorations are allowed, and decorating can be done for 45 minutes with no physical assistance from others. 

On the night of the competition, first, second, & third place prizes will be awarded in four age categories: 5 & 6; 7 & 8; 9 & 10; 11 & 12. Additionally, a People’s Choice Award winner will be selected in an online vote by December 19 at noon. That winner will receive a trophy and prize. Unassembled houses will be available to purchase the night of the competition to take home.
