At Little Hearts Child Development Center, the Child Care Teacher plays a vital role in creating a nurturing, safe, and developmentally appropriate learning environment for children. The ideal candidate will be passionate about early childhood education, committed to fostering a sense of curiosity and discovery, and equipped to support the emotional, cognitive, physical, and social development of young children.
Key Responsibilities:
Create and maintain a safe, clean, and organized classroom environment.
Plan and implement daily curriculum and activities aligned with the developmental needs and interests of the children.
Establish positive and supportive relationships with children and their families.
Observe, assess, and document children’s development and progress.
Promote a positive learning environment that reflects respect for all children, families, and cultures.
Follow all licensing regulations, health and safety guidelines, and center policies.
Ensure active supervision of children at all times, indoors and outdoors.
Collaborate with team members to maintain a cooperative and professional workplace.
Support trauma-informed practices and the Neurosequential Model in Education (NME) as part of classroom management and child development strategies.
Attend staff meetings, trainings, and required professional development sessions.
Communicate effectively with parents regarding their child’s experiences, development, and any concerns.
Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent required; CDA, Associate’s, or Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education or related field preferred.
Experience working with children in a licensed childcare setting strongly preferred.
Knowledge of child development principles and best practices.
CPR/First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain upon hire).
Ability to pass background checks and meet state licensing requirements.
Strong communication, organization, and teamwork skills.
Bilingual (English/Spanish) is a plus but not required.
Work Environment & Physical Demands:
Must be able to lift up to 40 lbs.
Ability to bend, kneel, stand, and sit on the floor with children for extended periods.
Work may include exposure to bodily fluids, cleaning agents, and varying noise levels.
May be required to step into other classrooms or roles as needed.
